Adolescence Awareness and Menstrual Hygiene Management Session for girls and teachers ( 27 May, 2026)
An awareness and counselling session for girls of 6 – 8 was conducted by the Medical Officer Dr. Anureet Kaur of the Sub Divisional Hospital Khadur Sahib on the topics of adolescence issues and menstrual hygiene management. The session aimed to educate girls students and female teachers about the menstrual hygiene management and also to discuss the physical, emotional, and hormonal changes experienced by girls during adolescence and the importance of maintaining proper menstrual hygiene.
During the session, the resource person sensitively addressed common concerns related to puberty, emotional well-being, nutrition, personal hygiene, and self-care. Special emphasis was laid on safe and hygienic menstrual practices, the importance of using clean sanitary products, maintaining personal hygiene during menstruation, and breaking myths and misconceptions associated with periods.
The Medical Officer encouraged the students to speak openly about their concerns and reassured them that menstruation is a natural and healthy process. The interactive session helped create awareness, boost confidence, and promote healthy habits among the girls.
